"Unsteadily, as in dim moon-shimmer, From out Makalii's night-dark veil of cloud thrills, shadow-like, the prefiguration of the world to be."

As you probably know, I am obsessed with the octopus as my shadowside. Had one even printed on my wedding program. Last night, one of my dreams, my mixed up weird night of dreams, was about scuba diving (oh I wish) and how we came upon a sea bed full of octopi. But even that's not right because they are solitary creatures (unlike jellyfish. Did you know a "school" of jellyfish is called a smack? Well you do now bc you are smart, S-M-R-T smart). But you know whatever. It was a dream.

And it was so relaxing and wonderful that it made me come do some research. So here's some cool videos and creation myth links on the octopus.

"Kanaloa - The Hawaiian Creator, the equivalent of Tangaroa from Maori myths. He is also the god of the underworld, who can teach magic. He appears in the shape of an octopus."

"The Hawaiʻian creation myth relates that the present cosmos is only the last of a series, having arisen in stages from the wreck of the previous universe. In this account, the octopus is the lone survivor of the previous, alien universe."

Read more about the octopus as Supreme Idol here. Then maybe you'll understand my desire to lie down on the ocean floor, eight sucking arms wrapped around me.
